Sydney Pollack (1934-2008), an Academy Award-winning American film director, producer and actor.
Pollack died of cancer on May 26 2008 at the age of 73 at his home in Los Angeles, California surrounded by family. He had been diagnosed about nine months before his death, said his publicist, Leslee Dart.
